Giving Tuesday

Posted by: Dan Smith on 12/5/2016

Giving Tuesday is such a vibrant example of the power of coordination to stimulate collective action. Seeing Giving Tuesday explode in popularity and impact both in Vermont and beyond since it started in 2012 has been totally inspiring.

A week ago, we were thrilled to partner with Vermont Public Radio and the Vermont Foodbank. For every gift made to VPR on Giving Tuesday, we donated funds so that the Foodbank could feed a Vermont family for a week. The day was a major success—VPR received 1,826 gifts, which means that the Vermont Foodbank will receive funding to provide more than 33,000 meals for Vermonters in need. You can read about the partnership here.

While we couldn’t be happier about this outcome, we aren’t surprised. Here in Vermont, we are lucky to be surrounded by people who love their communities and who care about their neighbors. What we saw on Giving Tuesday is yet another example the love and respect that Vermonters hold for one another. We’re grateful every day that we can help make that happen.
