Why Was the Fund Established?
The Pearce family wanted to help others facing the same type of challenges they experienced during their son Kevin's recovery after his near-fatal snowboarding accident in 2009. They also wanted to give back to the community that stood by them throughout the journey. Kevin's story is chronicled in the HBO Documentary Film, The Crash Reel - The Fall and Rise of Snowboarder Kevin Pearce, which premiered on the HBO Summer Documentary Series in July 2013. You can also listen to an interview with director Lucy Walker on NPR's All Things Considered.
Total contributions received to date (as of 3/13/2014): $108,464.
Advisors to the fund expect to recommend initial grants during February 2014. For more information, contact Tom Roberts at email@example.com or 802-388-3355 ext. 230.
