The History of the Fund
The Pearce family established the Kevin Pearce Fund at the Vermont Community Foundation in 2013 to support organizations that enrich and enhance the lives of individuals and families affected by brain injury, Down syndrome, and other challenges.
The family wanted to help others facing the same type of challenges they experienced during their son Kevin's recovery after his near-fatal snowboarding accident in 2009. They also wanted to give back to the community that stood by them throughout the journey. Kevin's story is chronicled in the HBO Documentary Film, The Crash Reel - The Fall and Rise of Snowboarder Kevin Pearce, which premiered on the HBO Summer Documentary Series in July 2013.
In its time at the Vermont Community Foundation, the Kevin Pearce Fund made 9 grants totaling $52,000 to support organizations and programs that connect, educate, and empower people to lead brain healthy lifestyles.
