We stand ready to assist Vermont philanthropists seeking to support organizations working on humanitarian relief. Below is a list of just some of the organizations providing direct assistance to victims. Click here for more information from the Council on Foundations.

Vermont-based Organizations
- Pure Water for the World, based in Rutland, is working on the ground in Haiti as we speak, attempting to provide safe, clean water to millions of people affected by the near-total destruction of the water infrastructure. Lack of clean, safe drinking water is a global problem.
- Peacequilts, also based in Rutland, is building better lives through art by supporting women’s art cooperatives in Haiti. Contributions will be used to address immediate needs, and to help rebuild the lives, homes and health of friends in Haiti, as well as to continue the PeaceQuilts project. PeaceQuilts is not a disaster relief organization but they are collecting money to support disaster relief projects.
- Vermont-Haiti Project, based in South Burlington, is the formal extension of the former "Project Haiti", which, for 18 years, had been involved with humanitarian services in a rural Haitian mountain region north of Port-au-Prince. Their goals involve sustainability and capacity building through people-to-people partnerships. VHP is not a disaster relief organization but they are collecting money to support disaster relief projects.
International Organizations with permanent Haitian programs
- Partners In Health Zanmi Lasante (“Partners In Health” in Haitian Kreyol) is PIH’s flagship project – the oldest, largest, most ambitious, and most replicated. The small community clinic that first started treating patients in the village of Cange in 1985, has grown into the Zanmi Lasante (ZL) Sociomedical Complex.
- Lambi Fund of Haiti is doing second responder work to help communities rebuild, especially the grassroots sustainable development and environmental projects they have supported all over Haiti. Updates can be see on their Facebook and Twitter pages as well as their website.
