Lead Partners

The McClure Foundation’s value statement speaks to the power of bringing people together to share ideas and to promote educational opportunities. Doing that work well means that we are always working collaboratively. Other funders agree: of 32 education issues, education funders from across the country listed postsecondary access and attainment as the most ripe for funder collaboration. So the McClure Foundation invests grant funds and staff time in support of networks and collaborations like the PreK-16 Council, the Advance Vermont partnership, and the VT Education Funders Network.

Our board and staff regularly meet with other Vermont education funders, statewide educational attainment and workforce development initiatives, the Vermont Department of Labor, and the Vermont Agency of Education. We anticipate these partnerships will inform the direction and strategy of the McClure Foundation in the years to come.

Our Lead Partners

The Vermont Community Foundation: our organizational home. The Community Foundation inspires giving and brings people and resources together to make a difference in Vermont. A family of hundreds of funds and foundations, it provides the advice, investment vehicles, and back-office expertise that make it easy for the people who care about Vermont to find and fund the causes they love. The heart of the Community Foundation’s work is closing the opportunity gap—the divide that leaves too many Vermonters struggling to get ahead, no matter how hard they work. They envision Vermont at its best—where everyone has the opportunity to build a bright, secure future.

Advance Vermont Initiative: our statewide strategic partner. Advance Vermont is a partnership between Vermont's most influential leaders in education, business, nonprofits, philanthropy, and local, state and federal government intended to build commitment to the ambitious goal of assuring that 70 percent of Vermonters possess a postsecondary degree or credential of value by 2025. As a collective action organization, Advance Vermont facilitates collaboration among those dedicated to achieving the goal, leads initiatives to increase degree and credential completion, and works to broaden public understanding of the goal, its importance, and the steps that must be taken to achieve it.

Community College of Vermont: our cornerstone grantee partner, to whom we’ve awarded nearly $1,700,000 over the past 10 years. The Community College of Vermont is Vermont’s second largest college, serving over 7,000 students each semester. With twelve locations and extensive online learning options, students don’t have to travel far from their communities to access CCV’s degree and certificate programs, workforce, secondary and continuing education opportunities, and academic and veterans support services.

Vermont Department of Labor: our lead partner for the Most Promising Jobs Campaign. The Economic and Labor Market Information team at the Vermont Department of Labor brings its long-term occupational projections data, its staff expertise, and its 12 regional American Job Centers to bear on our effort to highlight Vermont’s high-pay, high-demand jobs and the education and training pathways that lead to them.
